3 Agenda Dbvisit Standby Licensing Dbvisit Replicate Licensing
DbvisitProtect Support Services Pricing Useful Links Q+A

4 Dbvisit Standby What it does: Disaster Recovery
Target Market: ANY customer using Oracle SE or SE1 Problems You Can Solve: Customer can avoid an expensive upgrade to Oracle Enterprise Edition Customer does not have to rely on complicated and difficult to maintain manual scripting solutions Customer has peace of mind that they are protected in the event of a disaster

5 Dbvisit Standby Pricing Overview
Licensing is based on the following factors: How many occupied sockets or vCPUs do you have? Do you have clustering? What is your operating system? How many instances on the PRIMARY server do you wish to protect?

6 ….A Little More Detail 1. How many occupied sockets or vCPUs do you have? 1 socket = 4 vCPUs vCPU only applies for AWS environments If you are using any form of server virtualization technology, then the entire physical server must be licensed Minimum of two sockets per server, or 8vCPUs 2. Do you have clustering? Yes = RAC or other cluster. Add up all the sockets, in the servers, in the cluster and license this socket total number. Applies to Oracle RAC and other technologies such as VMware server pools etc.

7 ….A Little More Detail 3. What is your operating system?
Mainstream Operating Systems (Linux/Windows) with a factor of 1.0 Big Iron Operating Systems (AIX, Solaris, HP-UX) with a factor of 1.5. 4. How many instances on the PRIMARY server do you wish to protect? Single Multi

8 Pricing SINGLE INSTANCE Dbvisit Standby license per occupied socket = €860/USD$1,100 Dbvisit Standby license per vCPU = €215/USD$275 MULTI INSTANCE Dbvisit Standby license per occupied socket = €1,350/$1,760  Dbvisit Standby license per vCPU  = €340/$440 + add Big Iron OS factor (1.5) if applicable

9 Handy to Know A minimum pricing configuration is 2 occupied sockets per primary and per secondary server, and one year of support. The Dbvisit Standby license is a perpetual license that never expires. Socket refers to each occupied CPU socket. Both the Primary and Secondary Servers are evaluated for licensing purposes. Oracle RAC uses multiple databases and requires a multiple instance license.

10 Example 1 - Euros Single Instance (SI) Linux with 2 sockets on primary server and 2 sockets on secondary server, with 1 year support. How many occupied sockets or vCPUs do you have? 4 total Do you have clustering? No What is your operating system? Linux How many instances on the PRIMARY server do you wish to protect? 1 Sockets = (total occupied sockets x SI price) x operating system factor = total license cost Sockets = (4 x €860)  x 1.0 = €3,440 Support = total license cost x 25%  (1 year) = €3,440 x 25% = €860 Total cost =  €4,300

11 Example 1 - USD Single Instance (SI) Linux with 2 sockets on primary server and 2 sockets on secondary server, with 1 year support. How many occupied sockets or vCPUs do you have? 4 total Do you have clustering? No What is your operating system? Linux How many instances on the PRIMARY server do you wish to protect? 1 Sockets = (total occupied sockets x SI price) x operating system factor = total license cost Sockets = (4 x $1,100)  x 1.0 = $4,400 Support = total license cost x 25%  (1 year) = $4,400 x 25% = $1,100 Total cost =  $5,500 Note all pricing current at 1 February For up to date pricing please visit

12 Example 2 - Euros Multi Instance (MI) HP-UX with 4 sockets on primary server, 4 sockets on secondary server, 1 test license, and 1 year support. How many occupied sockets or vCPUs do you have? 8 total Do you have clustering? No What is your operating system? HP-UX How many instances on the PRIMARY server do you wish to protect? >1 Sockets = (total occupied sockets x SI price) x operating system factor = total license cost Sockets = (8 x €1,350)  x 1.5 = €16,200 Support = total license cost x 25%  (1 year) = €8,100 x 25% = €4,050 Test license = 25% license list price x €8,100 = €4,050 1 year test license support = 25% test license price = €2,025 x 25% = €1,012.50 License total = €20,250 Support total = €5,062.50 Total cost =  €25,312.50

13 Example 2 - USD Multi Instance (MI) HP-UX with 4 sockets on primary server, 4 sockets on secondary server, 1 test license, and 1 year support. How many occupied sockets or vCPUs do you have? 8 total Do you have clustering? No What is your operating system? HP-UX How many instances on the PRIMARY server do you wish to protect? >1 Sockets = (total occupied sockets x SI price) x operating system factor = total license cost Sockets = (8 x $1,760)  x 1.5 = $21,120 Support = total license cost x 25%  (1 year) = $10,560 x 25% = $5,280 Test license = 25% license list price = $5,280 1 year test license support = 25% test license price 25% = $1,320 License total = $26,400 Support total = $6,600 Total cost =  $33,000

14 Questions? Why is there an "operating system factor" i.e. why would a customer have to pay 50% more for his Unix System The difference in price reflects the operating system categories. These are Mainstream Operating Systems (Linux/Windows) with a factor of 1.0 and Big Iron Operating Systems (AIX, Solaris, HP-UX) with a factor of 1.5. The Big Iron OS’ are more specialized, lower volume and more expensive to develop on, test and maintain. If the primary is a COLD-Failover (active/passive) do we have to license the COLD failover sockets as well? Yes, this also requires licensing. "There is no option for NO Support" - does it mean for the initial license order only or also for support renewals - that is not clear. Support must be purchased with initial license but renewal is then optional.

15 Questions? What is your definition for "test environment" and "development environment" and how do you separate them? If you wish to use Dbvisit Standby in a test environment you will need to purchase a test license. If you also have a separate development environment this does not require a separate license. If you have a combined test and development environment you will require a test license. Cost of a test license is 25% of the total license cost. Your pricing for test environments is 25% on the total license cost. Is there any limitation on the size of this environment? No, there is no limitation. Do you provide an upgrade path if a customer’s environment changes and they require a higher spec license? Yes, they would just need to pay the difference between the current list price for the new license, and what they previously paid for their existing license.

16 Logical Replication Target Market: ANY customer using Oracle (any edition) Problems We Solve: Need to migrate their Oracle database and can’t afford downtime; rental licenses are available Reporting is putting strain on production servers resulting in a need for a real time offload reporting environment; significant cost savings when compared to Oracle GoldenGate Need to maintain up-to-date copies of data in multiple databases simultaneously >>Suitable for users of ALL Oracle editions XE through to EE

17 Dbvisit Replicate Editions

Two socket minimum applies for BOTH source and target Both source and target servers must be licensed and must have the same license type. Monthly Rentals are for a minimum 3 month period. The Monthly Rental includes Support & Maintenance. The Dbvisit Replicate license perpetual never expires. • Monthly Rentals are for a minimum 3 month period. • The Monthly Rental includes Support & Maintenance. • The Dbvisit Replicate license perpetual never expires.

18 Replicate Editions Key Features
LTD Perfect for real time reporting <200 tables XTD All of the above PLUS 200-2,000 tables Ideal for migrations RAC Support One-to-many replication Extended data type support MAX Unlimited tables BI/Audit Feature Two way replication

19 Extra Points Pricing with Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters) Source and/or target can be RAC (must be XTD or MAX edition) Pricing for RAC is determined by the total number of occupied sockets in the RAC cluster. Virtualization If you are using any form of server virtualization technology, then the entire physical server must be licensed. Amazon Web Services Cloud Your Source Server or Target Server or both may be run as Amazon EC2 Instances. Dbvisit Replicate uses a Bring Your Own Licence model so you will purchase your license and run on the AWS cloud as you would on-premise. Both Source and Target must be licensed, and the 2 socket minimum applies on each side.

20 Example 1 - USD Offload reporting project requiring Dbvisit Replicate. Source & target each with two sockets, replicating approximately 150 tables. One year support required. OS is Windows. Edition required = $3,000/socket total occupied sockets x socket price = total license cost License = 4 x $3,000 = $12,000 Support = total license cost x 25% (1 year) = $3,000 Total cost = $15,000 (no OS factor)

21 Example 1 - Euro Offload reporting project requiring Dbvisit Replicate. Source & target each with two sockets, replicating approximately 150 tables. One year support required. OS is Windows. Edition required = €2,350/socket total occupied sockets x socket price = total license cost License = 4 x €2,350 = €9,400 Support = total license cost x 25% (1 year) = €2,350 Total cost = €11,750 (no OS factor)

22 Example 2 - USD High availability project requiring Dbvisit Replicate. RAC support required. Two double socket nodes on source and double socket, single node target. <2K tables to be replicated. OS is HP-UX. Edition required = $5,000/socket total occupied sockets x socket price = total license cost License = 6 x $5,000 = $30,000 Support = (total license cost x 22%) = $6,600 Total cost = $36,600 x 1.5 OS Factor = $58,200

23 Example 2 - Euro High availability project requiring Dbvisit Replicate. RAC support required. Two double socket nodes on source and double socket, single node target. <2K tables to be replicated.
