3 4 November 2004TF-EMC2 Meeting, Amsterdam3 Middleware development Around 16 projects Start dates mid-2004 Focusing on authorisation, especially for VOs Several involve developing the Shibboleth target architecture –Allowing for multiple sources of authority –Allowing for explicit authorisation policies –Main approach using Permis as decision engine Application areas: Grid, e-Learning, some digital library projects

Several strands Large-scale frameworks (Sakai, OGCE) Light-weight “bottom-up” approaches Integration of new tools Will need to be bolted back into national/community middleware
