2 What are the SBAC tests? Smarter Balanced assessments are computer adaptive tests designed to measure students knowledge and abilities with the common core standards.

3 What is the format of the tests? All students will complete a Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) and Performance Task (PT) for both ELA and math. CAT – Short answer, multiple choice, fill in, etc. Testing system selects questions appropriately challenging for student (i.e., based on student’s answer to previous questions) PT – Longer response that requires integration of content, skills and real world scenarios. May include research component.

4 Who will take the SBAC computer tests this year? All 7 th, 8 th, and 11 th grade students.

5 When will students be tested? 7 th – in your science and English classes in April 8 th – in your science and English classes in May 11 th – in your history and English classes in May
