FY 14 Budget Request Our FY 14 grant from the Rec Office was approved in the amount of $2284. The members voted on the following modified budget: DescriptionPrice 8" Optical Tube Assembly 8" case Right-angle finder scope Equatorial mount $2080 AllView mount for H-alpha Lunt $400 Padded bag for Orion XTi8$90 JMI counterweight set for 16" Dob$90 1.25" Filter Set (Moon, Multi-color, OIII) $160 Observer's Handbook$40 Total$2860 The total budget of $2860 includes $576 from club funds which amounts to 20% of the total. The sale on the package deal on the 8” telescope and mount expired. This relieves the time constraint on this purchase; however, the package is now about $100 more than initially estimated. This can be made up from club funds, increasing the club amount to $676.

Equipment Check-out In order to minimize the chance of misplacing club equipment, the club will begin using the new equipment check-out form and the associated procedure for borrowing club equipment. Equipment room key-holders will need to sign off on check-outs and “parking lot” exchanges. Current key-holders: Steve Conard Dan Smith Helen Hart Mark Kochte

Star / Solar Party Planning Possible dates for solar observing party: –February 18, March 18, April 15 –Special April 22 event at Building 200 to coincide with pre-service teacher workshop –Volunteers needed Possible dates for Winter/Spring Friends and Family Star Party: –March 7, April 4, May 2 or 9 –Volunteers needed Dark Sky Party: –Club trip to Star Gaze at Tuckahoe State Park in April?
