2 Definitions  Management is the skillful handling or treatment of a task.  Resource management is the skillful handling of resources.  A Resource is anything that can be used to assist in the performance of a task

3 Resources Anything that can be used to assist in the performance of a task Types of resource:  Human Resource, energy, time, skill, knowledge.  Money, used to buy other resources e.g. food equipment  Commodities, food, equipment, fabric, wood, fuel, electricity, cleaning agent.  Community resources, libraries schools, hospitals. Task: Buy a car Resources needed: money, time, knowledge, energy.

4 Home Management  Def: Skilful handling of resources in the home  Aim of Home management: to provide a healthy and happy environment for the family Home Management involves:  Caring for the young  Providing a secure emotional background for family members.  Managing family finance  Managing family diet  Management of physical tasks e.g. cleaning

5 Home Management Home management involves the following steps:  Making Decisions/Setting goals  Identifying Resources  Planning  Action  Evaluation
