1 Recycle Clothing By: Brynn Denniston and Makenzie Paszek

2 Facts Fact: Approximately 12 million tons of clothing waste is produced each year in North America. – That equals out to be about 68 pounds per household. Textile Recycling Industry was one of the first recycling industries to be formed. Over 90% of textile waste could be recycled.

3 Why is it important? Landfills will stay nicer-fabric can take up to 100 years to decompose in landfills. Better for waterways- t-shirts that contain cotton pollute the water. (non-organic) Better for ourselves- the dyes that are used in some clothing can be harmful to animals, the environment, and us. Helps with pollution- nylons and polyester are made from chemicals that include refining crude oil which creates bad pollution.

4 Who can make a difference and how? Anyone can make a difference. Households can make the greatest of differences. Garage sales and donating instead of throwing them away.
