The objectives of our project

Main Objectives: 1) To widen human, social, cultural and historical horizons 2)To promote better knowledge of the different countries which make part of the European community 3)To foster a better understanding of societies and cultures different from ours, as well as tolerance and respect

4) To improve knowledge and competence in European languages 5) To involve as many students, teachers, families, authorities as possible to rise the feeling of being members of the European community and obtain better understanding to other people nationalities and races, by taking the peculiar identities which defined different local communities in the past a starting point.

Activities to carry out in the next 3 years: 1st year Each school will be collecting information concerning the past of different populations in our areas; information about history, customs, language, food should be found in order to discover what heritage those populations had directly or indirectly left to local populations. This way students will be able to understand that also in the past – even if differently- contaminations and consequent fusions of migrant populations with local ones took place.

2nd year We will carry out the same activity relating to the present. We will collect information (history, religion, language, food, customs..) about the presence of populations coming from developing countries or other parts of the continent to our areas, in order to consider influence they are leaving on our culture these days.

3rd year In a creative manner, taking into consideration the work done in the past two years, we will have to consider what kind of probable future fusions will take place in Europe and express what the future European citizens will be like; we will have to imagine, in addition, the society in which we will live, the society in which the presence of different populations will give birth to a new European citizen whose way of dressing, speaking, eating, thinking or acting will be the result of fusions and assimilations of different cultures.

Activities: interviews with experts contacts with cultural associations, questionnaires research of paper, research on the Internet, photos, reports Use of computers, webcams, digital camera, camcorders. Visiting places of interests (museums, archaeological areas, etc).

End products: –Production of a brochure containing the materials and the photos produced –Creation of a multimedia product on a cdrom, CD or DVD –Creation of a website where the materials can be gathered –Exhibitions at school, permanent stands in the school halls or libraries
