INSPIRATION JOURNAL Every day, you will start compiling a collection of free-writes, images, quotes, words, stories, memories, etc. Your daily contributions to this journal can be comprised of thoughts written down in any writing genre you choose, images you want to sketch, images you gather from the internet, magazines, etc, photos you capture, story ideas, reflections, anything. You will date each day’s inspiration and include as many entries as you’d like, building the journal for the next three weeks. This journal will be collected at the end of the unit. This “Inspiration Journal” will serve as the foundation of ideas from which you will write different forms of poetry for your final Poetry Portfolio. You can choose to select a theme now and create an inspiration journal around it. Or, you may go ahead and gather inspiring images, ideas, quotes, etc. and then build organically your poems from it.
