2 WHO IS HE? American civil rights movement
BORN- January 15, 1929  DIED- April 4, 1968 He was an American Pastor, activist & prominent leader in African American civil rights movement Best known for his “I Have A Dream” speech and an iconic figure around the world in advancement of civil rights, Using nonviolent teachings of Mahatma Ghandi

3 More About Him…. He is the most famous Human Rights activist, still talked about today The youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to end racial segregation and racial discrimination through civil disobedience and other nonviolent means refocused his efforts on ending poverty and stopping the Vietnam War He was found to be a subject to adultery - He had a lot of affairs. He blamed this on his ‘weakness for women’ and ‘a form of anxiety’

4 “I have a dream” 17 minute long speech
Speech calling for racial equality & an end to discrimination 17 minute long speech Delivered to over 200,000 civil rights supporters It was presented from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C "I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”

5 HIS DEATH He was murdered on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee – to this day nobody knows who or why did it but some think the FBI are involved He was standing on a hotel balcony. Eyewitnesses saw A "well-dressed" white man who is said to have dropped an automatic rifle after the shooting and escaped in a blue car.

Scout and Jem’s white father gets a lot of haters when he fights for a black man in trouble – This shows that the community is racist and white and black people are considered unequal Martin Luther King’s aim was to get black people considered equal to white people and to end discrimination and racism , in this book a lot of the white think that they are better than the black and a lot of discrimination and racism occurs .

Legacy & impact Black and white people are considered more equal than they used to in the past because of Martin Luther King He is one of the main reasons for the change in society His legacy still lives on today
