3 Project: Goal, Purpose and Tools Goal Rapid, inclusive and lasting growth in the Indian economy Objective Generation of awareness about ways and means in diverse fields for achieving the mentioned goal so as to induce needed action by diverse stakeholders Competition and Regulation Trade, Industrial development and Poverty Climate change and food security Tools Research, awareness generation, advocacy and capacity building based on research outputs

Climate Change, Food Security and Trade Linkages in India Goal Explore climate change, food security and trade linkages in India based on new research Objective Increase new knowledge on climate change-food security-trade linkages in India Develop capacity of Indian stakeholders to take advantage of the positive linkages between climate change, food security, trade and develop adequate policies Major Activities Research (macro level study focus on impacts of climate change on food production; micro level study to investigate social and practical condition for household food security & institutional studies with emphasis on local and national distribution system) Advocacy (Reference groups, Media articles, engage with relevant policy makers) Capacity building (Four evidence based capacity building at regional level) Networking (Inception and launch meeting; exchange visits; national conference, Evidence based meeting in Norway, etc) Overall Budget: NOK 14,991,600 CUTS (NOK 7,497,600) & SIFO (NOK 7,494,000)

Trade, Industrial Development & Poverty --In search for inclusive growth in India Goal Explore linkages between trade, growth and poverty (TGP) in India Objective Design and implement a network-based research and advocacy agenda on TGP Major Activities Research (Three broad subjects – How India has been inclusive? ; Trade poverty links in manufacturing & sectoral transformation and non-agricultural job creation) Advocacy (National Reference group, engagement with Parliamentarians, media articles) Capacity building (Regional level, exchange visits) Networking (Inception and launch meeting; national conference, European Conference in Norway, etc) Overall Budget: NOK 17,463,600 CUTS (NOK 10,227,600) & NUPI (7,236,000)

Political Economy of Regulation and Competition in India Goal Generate knowledge and build capacity for better implementation of competition and regulatory regimes in India Objective Research and deliberate on political economy and governance constraints Examine constraints faced by agencies in implementing their mandate Undertake capacity building activities on competition and regulatory issues Major Activities Research (02 research cycles – number of research papers will be produced; publication of 02 research volumes) Advocacy (Project advisory committee, outreach seminars, Parfore meeting, media articles, etc) Capacity building (Capacity building programmes at regional level, exchange visits, study tours, etc) Networking (Outreach seminars, Research Symposium, European Conference in Norway and Regional Conference) Overall Budget: NOK 16,074,000

Envisaged Outcomes from PROSAIG -II Generation of awareness among Indian stakeholders about the requirements for inclusive growth in the Indian context Stimulation of an integrated approach which meets the above requirements Enhancement of the capacity of Norweigan researchers to work on developing country issues
