4 sen t “MISSIONAL COMMUNITY GROUPS” Missional – the Church (saved followers of Jesus Christ indwelt by God’s Spirit) is on earth SENT on mission to advance the life and ministry of Jesus Christ in this world and people’s lives.

5 sen t “MISSIONAL COMMUNITY GROUPS” Community is a fundamental value of God and His Kingdom’s DNA, and therefore is to be in the life of His people on mission.

6 sen t “MISSIONAL COMMUNITY GROUPS” Group: a number of individuals assembled together or having some unifying relationship

7 sen t 1 Corinthians 1:4-9 (NLT) I always thank my God for you and for the gracious gifts (charis) he has given you, now that you belong to Christ Jesus. 5 Through him, God has enriched your church (you pl.) in every way—with all of your eloquent words and all of your knowledge. 6 This confirms that what I told you about Christ is true. 7 Now you have every spiritual gift (charisma) you need as you eagerly wait for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. 8 He will keep you strong to the end so that you will be free from all blame on the day when our Lord Jesus Christ returns. 9 God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership (koinonia) with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

8 sen t GIFTED BY GOD 1 Corinthians 1:4 (NLT) I always thank my God for you and for the gracious gifts he has given you, now that you belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Corinthians 1:4 (ESV) I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus.

9 sen t GIFTED BY GOD GraceGk. Wd. Charis Favor – God’s unmerited favor as in eternal life received by God’s grace versus human merit and the related blessings of being in union with Christ in salvation. Empower – Strength received to sustain right living, acts of kingdom ministry, withstand trials and persecution. Equip – Spiritual gifts given to carry out kingdom work and ministry such as helps, giving, teaching, prophecy, mercy, exhortation, and others.

10 sen t GIFTED BY GOD 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. 7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. Each person is gifted. Each person receives gifts for the purpose of Kingdom life and ministry…to be used by God, to advance God’s purposes. Not only is each person gifted but so is the local church as a group.

11 sen t Rich in Christ 1 Corinthians 1:5 (NLT) Through him, God has enriched your church in every way—with all of your eloquent words and all of your knowledge. 1 Corinthians 1:5 (ESV) that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge— The Corinthians were wealthy in God’s gifts that He has given. Enriched individually and corporately…YOU is a plural pronoun. Paul is addressing the local church in Corinth. Paul is addressing them as a community. While each person has individually been gifted and enriched Paul is addressing the Church of Corinth as a community…as a local church they were gifted and enriched to serve others as a community.

12 sen t Rich in Christ 1 Corinthians 1:7-8 (NLT) Now you have every spiritual gift you need as you eagerly wait for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. 8 He will keep you strong to the end so that you will be free from all blame on the day when our Lord Jesus Christ returns. We are to live in light of eternity We are blessed to be a blessing

13 sen t Invited to Partnership with Jesus 1 Corinthians 1:9 (NLT) God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:9 (ESV) God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Fellowship koinonia Intimate association, sharing activities, common purposes and/or interests and/or essence. Paul said that the Corinthians are in a partnership with Jesus Christ, called into fellowship with Him, and on mission with Him.

15 sen t “MISSIONAL COMMUNITY GROUPS” Described A community of Christians, on mission with God, in obedience to the Holy Spirit, who demonstrate the gospel tangibly and declare the gospel creatively to a pocket of people
