1 Washington school shooting

2 One of four students injured when a freshman opened fire in a Washington high school cafeteria has died, bringing the death toll to two. Three others remain hospitalized from the Friday shooting at Marysville-Pilchuck High School. Witnesses say Jaylen Fryberg, a popular freshman, opened fire in the crowded lunchroom at Marysville-Pilchuck High School. He killed one student at the scene and injured four others before taking his own life. Student Zoe Galasso died at the scene. Gia Soriano died Sunday night. Of the other three who remain hospitalized, Shaylee Chuckulnaskit, 14, and Andrew Fryberg, 15, are in critical condition. Nate Hatch, 14, is in serious condition. Andrew and Nate were Jaylen's cousins. The boys were apparently close friends. By all accounts, Jaylen was a popular student. Just a week ago, he had been named the high school's freshman homecoming prince. Authorities do not yet have a motive.

3 In Other News The gunman responsible for a terrorist attack in Ottawa last week was "driven by ideological and political motives" and made a video of himself. Authorities have previously identified the gunman as Michael Zehaf- Bibeau. He opened fire Wednesday at Canada's National War Memorial and Parliament Hill, killing army reservist Cpl. Nathan Cirillo. The gunman was then shot and killed by security. Zehaf-Bibeau had ties to jihadists in Canada who shared a radical Islamist ideology, including at least one who went overseas to fight in Syria. Boko Haram gunmen kidnapped at least 30 boys and girls from a village in northeast Nigeria during the weekend. The abductions are the latest in a string of recent kidnappings by Boko Haram that dims hope for the anticipated release of 219 schoolgirls ‎ held by the group since April following a controversial ceasefire declared by Nigerian authorities. Heavily armed Boko Haram gunmen invaded the town of Mafa, in Borno state, on Friday through Saturday and seized 30 boys and girls. Boko Haram is a militant Islamist movement based in northeast Nigeria. The group has received training and funds from Al-Qaeda, and was designated by the US as a terrorist organization in November 2013. Jack Bruce, singer, songwriter and bassist for legendary 1960s rock band Cream, died Saturday at 71. Considered one of the greatest rock trios of all time, Cream was formed by Bruce, guitarist Eric Clapton and drummer Ginger Baker in 1966. The band produced such hits as "Sunshine of Your Love," "White Room," "Crossroads" and "Strange Brew," many of which Bruce wrote and sang.
