Multiple Intelligences Verbal Linguistic Ability to learn by responding to words. Learn well through expressive language. Likely to enjoy reading, writing, and speaking. Logical/Mathematical Recognize symbols and patterns and understand their relationships. Good with numbers, reasoning, logic, problem solving, patterns, and abstract thinking. Musical Perceive, remember, and express themselves through sound, rhythm, and pitch. Use music as a means of expression and as an avenue for processing information.

Multiple Intelligences (cont.) Visual/Spatial Think best through visual perceptions and mental representations. Create mental pictures and 3D concepts to help them understand. Keenly aware of shapes, maps, charts, tables, graphs and puzzles. Bodily/Kinesthetic Use movement as a way of understanding. Associate thought with motion and need to move to know, often moving objects around to understand concepts. Prefer a hands-on approach, participating rather than watching.

Multiple Intelligences (cont.) Interpersonal Use their awareness of other people as a basis for action. Get along well with others and are sensitive to what they think/feel. Openly exchange thoughts with others and participate in group activities. Intrapersonal Use an awareness of their own thoughts and feelings to guide their behavior. Don’t need others to affirm their ideas or encourage them. Intuitive, self-motivated, and content to be by themselves. Naturalist Recognize patterns in the world, especially the way plants grow and animals behave. Understand details of the environment and are in tune with the natural cycles of nature.
