Why is this training module important? How did we come to appreciate and recognize this need?

Why Now? We have been redefining our relationship with our projects We are updating our programs and materials We are changing our national governance model We are building our organization for the second hundred years

Understanding the Purpose There is a significant difference between a non-profit organization and a for-profit business Incorporating good business skills will benefit both The for-profit model can be followed by the non-profit

What business skills are we talking about? Financial Analysis Strategic Planning/Goal Setting Using Data Analysis Technology Data Files and Databases

How can these skills benefit us? They help us work smarter They allow us to understand our financial situation more clearly They focus us on specific goals They encourage us to analyze what we are doing

How can these skills benefit us? Use the skills of members to train other members Determining roles she can fill Engaging non-members Teach the basics of technology

Challenges of Technology Time consuming Keeping up with the changes It can be abused Knowing which technology to use in each situation Knowing when not to use technology

Next let’s look at Development Professional experience as a fundraiser Newly retired or discretionary time with an interest in development Charismatic and outgoing with the desire to be trained in fundraising Training possibilities to expand resume

Membership Outreach A team approach: Socially active Well-connected Newly retired, long-term member Expertise in social work Prominent in the community Tech-savvy Interested in special interest groups

Education and Advocacy Who to approach: Teacher/retired teacher Knowledge of Hadassah materials Tech savvy Organizer Politically active Interest in social action Knowledgeable about Zionism

Leadership Skills Offer training to unit leaders using Region or National resources Create a team to explore how technology can be helpful Encourage participation in National Online Training webinars Be proactive in obtaining email addresses to cut down on printed material

Additional Benefits Strengthen and build our image as current and smart Present a positive image with current and perspective members / associates who are business savvy Incorporate more efficient and effective ways of fundraising, building membership, offering education events and leadership development Evaluate what you are doing and learn from your experiences
