3 The purpose of this course is educate students in how to make calculations and start making a budget. You can get to the class website by typing the address http://www.rlccomputer.com into the address bar of Internet Explorer. Then click on the schedule for your location. 5 Website Name and Useage You can get to the class website by typing the address http://www.rlccomputer.com into the address bar of Internet Explorer and then pressing the Enter key on your keyboard. The current day's classes are listed on front page. Click the Worksheet Basics entry if its there. http://www.rlccomputer.com If its not there then click on Courses on the main page. Then select Excel, Basic and click on it's entry. Find the entry for Worksheet Basics and click on it to get to this page. Please remember that you can always ask the Computer Lab Tech to help you get to this page

6 We are offering a course in a course in Basic Excel at 10:30 am, except in Santa Maria where it starts at 10:00 am. A course on Typing 101 has started at all RLC's at 12:30 pm, except in Santa Maria where it starts at 12:00 pm. 7 Reference Material We will be using Microsoft Excel 2010, Step by Step by Curtis D Frye as a class text book. There is a reference copy in your Computer Lab Microsoft Office 2010 for Dummies by Wallace Wang contains simplified help for Access,Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word and is also in the lab. A way of getting help is to go into Google and put in key words describing your problem and see what Google can find in the way of solutions to your problem which most probably other people have experienced before you.Google

14 Open you Budget Find MyBudget1 on your Flash Drive or Gdrive Save it as MyBudget2 on either your Flash drive – Or if its on your Gdrive, download it to your MyDocuments folder Open it if necessary

16 Make a List of Incomes Add names of source(s) of income on row A3 and below. Fill in the amount you expect to get in B3 and below Make sure all numbers show as dollars and cents. Format the numbers as dollars and cents by Selecting the block from B2 to N25 Right click and select Format Cells.. Click on Currency Click on OK Your spreadsheet should look something like this except the names and values are most probably different.this

18 Listing Expenses In Column A starting at row 11 fill with the names of between 5 and 10 spending budget categories going down the left column. Typical categories may be rent, food, cigarettes, entertainment, movies, transportation, medications etc. Widen column A so that all the category words can fit in the column Fill in typical values for all fields for December(Guesses expected) Your spreadsheet should look something like this except the names and values are most probably differentthis

20 Print it Now print out your file by typing Ctrl-P (Hold down Ctrl key and press P), Press Print. Please print your name and date on it Turn it into the instructor by the end of next week.
