FINAL REPORT FINAL REPORT ON RISK ASSESSMENT AND MONITORING FOR ENVIRONMENTAL CHEMICALS NAME : PRAMODA PRAHAN COUNTRY : NEPAL
2
Purpose of Attending the course To learn and gain knowledge on: Control measures of environmental pollution The principles and techniques used for monitoring environmental pollution Treatment technologies for solid waste, waste water Environmental contaminants and about risk assessment technology for them and their impacts on human health and ecosystem Effective analytical techniques, instruments for the determination of heavy metals, trace metals and other chemicals (contaminants) in environmental matrix
3
Main Subjects Studied Persistent organic pollutants, endocrine disrupting chemicals Steps for safety assessment of pesticides Research and development of the new agrochemical Waste management and total system of solid waste incineration
4
Type of land fill sites Air pollution monitoring system/facilities in Japan Waste water, sewage treatment technology Basic principles of waste disposal in Japan Diseases caused by environmental contaminants
5
Risk assessment and monitoring of environmental chemicals Different sophisticated analytical scientific instruments Different analytical techniques Sampling and sample treatment Enzyme Immuno Assay – ELISA
6
Most Useful Subjects to Solve Environmental Problems in Nepal Solid waste management Waste water/Sewage treatment technologies Types of landfill sites Analytical instruments used for monitoring environmental pollution Techniques for analysis of soil, water, air for monitoring environmental contaminants
7
Simplified rapid methods for monitoring environmental contaminants Information about EDCs Pesticide application techniques Road traffic noise control measure
8
Action Plan Share acquired knowledge Initiate analysis of heavy metals and other contaminants with new techniques Apply simplified methods for monitoring Initiate treatment of waste water generated in the laboratory Propose for environmental monitoring around mineral based industries Take active part in creating public awareness Spread the importance of risk assessment and monitoring of EDCs
