4. The Origins 2008 Andrew Lansley in opposition set up a Public Health Commission looking at a potential ‘Responsibility Deal’ Chaired by Dave Lewis, Unilever, the PHC produced a report ‘ we’re all in this together’ in May 2009

Recommendations from PHC - Summary Educating on three key messages o A healthy diet o Energy In – Energy Out Balance o Responsible Drinking Eat & Drink appropriate quantities and increase activity o Encourage reduction in portion sizes o Government should develop match-funding schemes to encourage the promotion of physical activity o Physical activity repositioned as a healthcare provision, reducing VAT options Ring-fenced Public Health Budgets Building Genuine Partnerships
