NRHH is…. The recognition branch of National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH) A honorary organization A leadership opportunity A community service entity A programming board A leadership development tool An advocacy group

What is the History? NACURH was in need of financial help Grants were found, but services had to rendered to member schools Thus, at the NACURH 1964 Conference hosted by the University of Denver, NRHH was born The years following were years of growth and development as other residence life honoraries were brought into the fold under the NRHH name Today NRHH has more than 200 affiliated chapters across the globe

What does NRHH do? The activities of Chapter vary from campus to campus. Induct Members into the Honorary Campus-wide Programs Of the Month (OTM) Awards Leadership Retreats Community Service Projects Recognition Programs Conference Attendance

Membership Requirements… Chapter – School is affiliated with NACURH, Inc. – Submitted Contact Information requested, Membership List and NRHH Constitution to the NIC Members – Must have lived in the halls for at least a year – Must have made a positive contribution to the residence hall system – Must have at least a 2.5 GPA upon induction – Must be in good standing with the institution

Types of Membership… Once a NRHH Member you are a member for Life!!! Active – Inducted into an affiliated NRHH Chapter – Resides in residential housing – Has voting rights Early Alumni Membership Status (EAMS) – Inducted into an affiliated NRHH Chapter – Can no longer fulfill active membership level of chapter – Submitted request to Regional AD-NRHH

Types of Membership…(Cont) Alumni – Members who have moved off campus or graduated – May still be involved, but do not have a vote Honorary – Individuals who do not qualify for other membership types Includes: housing personnel, instructors, college or university staff, and those who have demonstrated outstanding support and service to the residence hall students In some cases: graduating seniors, student who do not meet the GPA requirement, etc.

Who is in charge of NRHH? National Associate for NRHH – Serves as the chief executive officer of the honorary – Maintains resources of the honorary – Reports to the NACURH National Chair – Serves on the National Board of Directors (NBD) NACURH NRHH Board – Maintain national policy and procedure of the honorary – Serve as executive officer of their regional chapters – Task the NAN through legislation and requests – Vote on national awards

How do you start a chapter? Read the Chapter Building Resource Guide Contact your Regional AD-NRHH Achieve support from your housing department Look over the ABCs of NRHH Resource Guide Create a chapter constitution Induct new members – Induction materials can be purchased through the NSRO. Submit constitution and member list to the NIC
