4 Upcoming NCATE Visit  NCATE visit scheduled for Fall 2012  Institutional Report submitted Fall 2011  SPA Reports submitted Fall 2010  Minimum of two applications of assessments  All nationally recognized programs may submit a National Continuing Recognition report

5 NCATE Revisions  Two Options for Continuing Visits  Continuous Improvement  Transformation Initiatives  Address each standard as a whole  Choose a standard in which the unit is moving toward target level  Exhibit room is entirely virtual

6 Continuing Visit Options  Continuous Improvement  Transformation Initiative

7 Continuous Improvement  Unit will self assess itself against the target level of one or more standards  Respond to each standard as a whole not each element

8 Transformation Initiative  Engagement in an initiative for self- improvement and contribution to the improvement and reform of the profession, including learning in P-12 schools  Examples: Validity studies of assessments, induction and mentoring, use of formative assessments to improve student learning  Must be reviewed by offsite BOE team to determine eligibility  Unit must clearly show that it has been engaged in continuous improvement since the last visit and continues to meet standards

19 NCATE Goals for 2009-2010 Academic Year  Review SPA reports submitted for last NCATE visit  Address any areas of concern and comments made by reviewers  Review SPA and Unit assessments  Begin looking at the consistency of the data  Do all assessments address the standards providing meaningful and relevant data for the program?  Streamline data collection  Create data report cycle for Unit and SPA and assessment data

20 Proposed Program Portfolio  Addresses the standards for each program  Provides program and unit data  Eliminates the need to complete the Conceptual Framework Reflection in each course  Rubric addresses students’ ability to:  Provide appropriate evidence for each standard  Reflect upon how the evidence addresses the standard  Reflect upon how the evidence relates to the conceptual framework  Sample portfolio developed in LiveText
