How do Search Engines work? Infobots are software programs that scan www web pages and seek out information and assign key terms to the web page and report this to the main data base at the search engine site, for ex. www.google.com or www.yahoo.com. When you ask the search engine for something it reports only what its infobots have seen out on the web. That is why you get broken links (outdated web pages that the infobot scanned last year).
