8 What Members Said: EIA 2011-2012 Member Survey Tell us if the EIA Mission Statement is still relevant or should be revised.  Still relevant? – 60% say yes  Needs revision?  “Empowering educational entrepreneurs.”  Should say more about ensuring members’ quality, accountability.  Should be bigger and bolder.  Should be shorter/more concise.

9 What Members Said: EIA 2011-2012 Member Survey Please add any additional comments you want to be considered as part of the Board’s strategic planning meeting later this month.  Focus more on emerging issues, not the old ones.  Think forward, help members get beyond SES.  Continue to defend market-based/for-profit competition in K-12 learning.  Start online as well as international special interest sections.  EIA is very helpful and supportive.

10 What Members Said: EIA 2011-2012 Member Survey From your point of view, what are a couple of emerging trends or opportunities in the preK-12 marketplace that could affect your business, and the EIA?  Online/blended learning; online tutoring; technology.  End of SES; NCLB reauthorization and threat of waivers.  Growth of charter schools and education reform movement in general.

11 What Members Said: EIA 2011-2012 Member Survey List 3-5 opportunities/activities that EIA could do in order to deliver greater relevance/value to its members.  Industry research; be on cutting edge of trends; deliver members more information.  Facilitate more networking, including more state and local events, webinars.  Support members’ access to accreditation.  Broaden advocacy efforts at the federal and state levels.  Identify and help members apply for grants and similar opportunities.
