Breaking Dawn Realistic Fantasy Breaking Dawn is about a teenage girl who lives in the small town of Forks and ends up falling in love with a vampire named Edward Cullen. Attribute 1: Real places This books setting takes place in real towns and countries such as; Forks (Town), and Italy. As well as brief times in Ireland and Egypt. Attribute 2: Supernatural Beings This book has supernatural humans/animals. Including vampires, werewolves, and a vampire hybrid (Half human, half vampire). Attribute 3: Suspended Belief This story suspends belief to the reader. When something in the story happens that makes the reader stop believing. Something unbelievable. Other examples: Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse. All by Stephenie Meyer. Evaluation Slide

Beginning: “Do you know where he is now.” “Somewhere in northern Canada. I can’t tell you which province. He doesn’t pay much attention to state lines (pg 11).” This came up when Jacob ran away from La Push. Hyperlink Middle: “He knew I was right. He wasn’t going to abandon his mom. He would go back to La Push and protect the tribe like he should (pg 313).” When Sam was about to runaway Jacob knew that Sam was unable to leave the pack or his mom alone. End: “In the end, we pulled together seventeen witnesses- the Irish, Siobhan, Liam, and Maggie; the Egyptians, Amun, Kebi, Benjamin, and Tia; the Amazons, Zafrina and Senna; the Rominians, Vladimir and Stefan; and the nomads, Charlotte and Peter, Garrett, Alistar, Mary and Randall-to supplement our family of eleven (pg 317).” These vampires are from all over.

Beginning: “Billy and I knew where Jacob was, roughly speaking, and we also knew that no one seen this boy (pg 10).” In the previous novel you found out that Jacob was actually capable of turning into a werewolf. Middle: “The only sign of surveillance I came across was just a hint of dark brown fur flitting through the woods, running parallel to me for a few miles on the south side of Forks. Ouil, it looked like to me (pg 330).” End: “He kept his distance when he could, and when he couldn’t he grumbled to Renesmee that someone was going to have to provide an index if anyone expected him to keep all the new bloodsuckers names straight (pg 611).” Hyperlink

Beginning: “I’d seen newborn vampires firsthand, and I’d heard all my family-to- be’s stories about those wild early days (pg 22).” Bella’s soon-to- be vampire family know all about newborn vampires. Middle: “She had matured from a single cell to normal-sized baby in the course of a few weeks. She looked well on her way to being a toddler just a few days after birth. If this rate of growth held… (pg 461).” Renesmee grows very quickly. End: “Lining the walls was a ring of spectators, every vampire who joined us, except for Alistar and the three involved in the quarrel (pg 655).” When all the vampires visited Carlisle’s house to be witnesses for Renesmee.

“Breaking Dawn” is a good example of a Realistic Fantasy. It has supernatural characters, regular humans, and real places. The stories main settings are in Washington which are Forks and La Push. Some supernatural characters would be the Cullens’, the Quileutes, and the Volturi. It also gives suspended belief to the reader, in which the reader no longer believes what they are reading. The story also has some believable parts, such as weddings, honeymoons, and the towns. The story not only has believable parts but true parts as well, the beach, La Push, in Washington is just one example.
