Introduction Dietary evaluation is an important part of general evaluation, but it is time consuming and subjective. 24hr recall questionnaire is a recognized method for dietary assessment. Medical students are supposed to have healthy eating habits. 2

Material and method The type of study - cross-sectional Target population - medical students Sample - 91 students divided in two groups from the first (46 subjects) and fourth year (45 subjects) of General Medicine at UMPh Tg. Mures Method - 24hr recall questionnaire Statistical analysis - Microsoft Office Excel, GraphPad InStat Macronutrient composition and the count of the calories - Foodtracker (Supertracker.usda.com) 4 https://www.supertracker.usda.gov/foodtracker.aspx

Material and method Variables analysed : age sex environment study year body mass index waist macronutrients: protein, carbohydrate, fat, fiber empty calories recommended caloric intake number of meals location of meals physical activity frequency 5

Discussions Our results are similar to other studies in Sweden and Greece (1,2) Medical students have similar diet habits with the general population. Even small caloric excess can lead to increased weight.

Conclusions Medical students tend to consume high amounts of empty calories, have an imbalanced diet and do not exercise. The 24hr recall is a useful tool for evaluating personal diet and allows tailored recommendations. More emphasis should be put on nutritional education among medical students. 16
