1. Take Art – A Pioneering Arts Charity

2. Take Art is an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) – one of two Somerset funded NPO’s. We serve the towns, villages and rural communities of Somerset by providing opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to experience, participate and work within the arts. We have five key services:  Live (Rural Touring)  Start (Early Years)  Music  Theatre  Dance Working with children and young people in Somerset is one of our key priorities. Key Points

Start (Early Years) Start provides opportunities for Somerset’s under 5s and their families to enjoy arts experiences of the highest quality.  We deliver collaborative and creative programmes and projects in Children’s Centres, pre-schools and childminder settings, across all art forms.  Through the arts we aim to develop the potential of all small children to be strong and purposeful and to encourage parents to be competent partners in their children’s play.  We offer training and mentoring for artists and Early Years practitioners to maximise their creative and critical thinking skills through the delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

4. Theatre We aim to support an increase in the quantity, quality and diversity of performance and participatory theatre made and presented in Somerset. One of our priorities is to develop and deliver initiatives that reach and engage children, young people and cross-generational participants. Recent projects include:  Ballistic Lips, a spoken word project targeted at vulnerable young people  A collaboration with the Health and Well-Being Promotion team that enabled students from the SPACE to tour Theatre-in-Education to primary schools across Somerset

5. Music With a focus on excellence, ambition and accessibility, Take Art Music is a brand new service, working with music partners, youth groups and schools across Somerset.  We are a lead partner in the Somerset Music Education Hub  We have submitted a bid to Youth Music in partnership with Actiontrack and all the PRU’s in Somerset  Take Art promotes a wide range of professional music events through out Live programme

6. Dance Take Art Dance believe that dance is for everyone and anyone can dance. We support high quality performance and participation throughout Somerset.  We are the County Dance Agency with an ACE funded Children & Young People specialist post  We run the annual County Youth Dance Platform Spring Forward, which has over 500 young people participating from over 30 youth groups and schools from across Somerset  We are linked with local & national professional dance companies, Dance South West, Youth Dance England and Big Dance.
