Current Issues  Raising Awareness of Career Opportunities in the Supply Chain with High School Students – Our 2005 sector study suggested that high school students in particular had little knowledge of career opportunities in our sector, and stakeholders asked what we could do to help. Here are a number of suggestions that you and your associations can act on to help us (using the range of resources that we have developed):  Call or visit your local high school and investigate offering a co-op placement in your firm (the Council has a directory to assist you in contacting the right person in your community)  Contact your local high school (near your firm or home) to see if they are looking for guest speakers for their business or career/guidance programs: good fits include “Introduction to Business,” “International Business,” “Career Planning” and “Navigating Careers” courses. (Each province has particular course names and requirements; visit http://www.cfee.org/cgi- bin/go.cgi?lang=en&file=/en/progres.shtml for details on what might be appropriate for you.)http://www.cfee.org/cgi- bin/go.cgi?lang=en&file=/en/progres.shtml  Offer to host a tour of your facility (or, better yet, invite students to participate in chapter events, particularly where tours are included). Bell Canada has advised us of safeguards designed to keep voice-mail systems safe: change your passwords frequently, insist on a minimum of 8 digits in a password, disable through-call features on your systems and, if possible, limit or disable overseas long distance on your systems.
