2. Who is CaLP ? Partnership between Oxfam GB, the British Red Cross, Save the Children, the Norwegian Refugee Council and Action Against Hunger / ACF International. 5 steering committee organisations came together to support capacity building, research and information-sharing on cash transfer programming as an effective tool to help deliver aid in times of crisis.

3. Rationale for CaLP There is a growing recognition in the humanitarian sector that in an emergency, cash transfers and vouchers can be appropriate and effective tools to support populations affected by disasters in a way that maintains dignity and choice for beneficiaries while stimulating local economies and markets. The CaLP aims to promote appropriate, timely and quality cash and voucher programming.

CaLP Asia Focus Objective: to continue to support, at a regional level, CaLPs global efforts, and: – Map activities – Develop regional/ country contact list – Identify support needs – Establish Regional Cash Working Group – Create Strategy and Prioritize Focus Countries Themes: – Urban, – Emergency preparedness (to facilitate speed and scale), – Coordination (in responses), – Links between national Governments safety net programmes and – the private sector for electronic and mobile payment solutions.

Asia Trainings and Activities Level 1 to Level 2 – Nepal 29 July – 02 August – (possibly) Bangkok 16 – 20 September – (possibly) Cambodia 28 October – 01 November – 2 government trainings to be defined Global Learning Events: Kuala Lumpur 24 – 25 July CTPs in Emergency Prep New Cost-Recovery Policy: In the past, CaLP trainings suffered from a high number of last minute participant dropouts, resulting in an increased cost per participant, missed opportunities for those on waiting lists and an inefficient use of CaLP resources. Starting with Nepal: - Local NGOs: US$ 50/ participant - International NGOs: US$400/ participant - Independent: US$400/ participant - Government officials: free of charge
