2
When you see a Fraction Bar you should think Divide / = ÷
3
Step 1: Divide the numerator by the denominator 1
4
1 1/4 = 1 ÷ 4 = 0.25 How it works… Lets look at the fraction 1/4: 4 Remember…. A fraction bar is just like a division sign.
5
1 1/2 = 1 ÷ 2 = 0.5 How it works… Lets look at the fraction 1/2: 2
6
3 3/4 = 3 ÷ 4 = 0.75 How it works… Lets look at the fraction 3/4: 4
7
1 2 1/4 How it works… Now, lets look at the mixed number 2 1/4: 4 2 First: Put your whole number on the left hand side of the decimal pint. 2.2. Second: Convert the fraction to a decimal and put it on the right side of the decimal point. 1/4 = 1 ÷ 4 = 0.25 2.25 Whole Part WholePart.
8
1 5 1/5 How it works… Now, lets look at the mixed number 5 1/5: 5 5 5.25.2 Whole Part WholePart.
9
6 9 6/8 How it works… Now, lets look at the mixed number 9 6/8: 8 9 9.75 Whole Part WholePart.
