Is the number being multiplied to a variable. Can be a whole number, integer, or fraction! What is the coefficient of: X4x 2 7
4
A fraction whose numerator and denominator are flipped from the original fraction. What is the reciprocal of: (1/2) (-4/3)
6
Way 1: Find the least common denominator and combine like terms. Always separate the coefficient from the variable first! PUT RIGHT NEXT TO THE VARIABLE! To UNDO the fraction coefficient: MULTIPLY BY THE RECIPROCAL
7
Way 2: Multiply first to clear the equation of fractions. Multiply each piece of the equation by the LEAST COMMON DENOMINATOR. Then follow the steps to get the variable alone.
8
Multiply by powers of 10 to undo decimals in an equation. 10 ^1 10 ^2 10 ^3 Look for the greatest amount of digits to the right of the decimal to determine which power of 10 you will multiply each piece by.
