Success Indicators Houston Isaacs, who enrolled on the Welding programme in Vredenburg campus and completed his Apprenticeship in 2011, went on to become the 2013 Young Welder of the Year and also featured in 2011 on the Do-It-Yourself television show Riaan Venter Shandre Janse Van Rensburg, also a West Coast College student, was selected as the runner-up in the 2013 Young Welder of the Year competition. In 2014, Romario Arendse, defended the college’s title in which artisans from some big companies such as Transnet, Wilbat Projects, Sasol & Eskom also participated. Romario did the college proud by finishing second in the competition, and was narrowly beaten by a mere 1,25% by the winner from Steamular Training Centre.
