2 PROGRESS education sector NIMBA In Bahn Camp and 16 HC sector partners are currently reaching 6806 children (2,415 Irefugees) with primary school services. Rapid Joint EDU/CP Assessment completed in Butuo, Loguato, Ghborplay axis (1,2 June) – 11 locations (+ 14 by SCUK) GRAND GEDEH 8686 Children (4749 refugees) reached with primary school services and supplies distribution. 1174 Children (524 refugees) reached with Early Childhood Education. MARYLAND 205 Ivorian children from Little Wlebo camp attend classes in Government school and recreation activities. In Harper City 5 schools identified (29 classrooms) for double shift. Ongoing information campaign/radio for school enrollment for urban based refugees. Joint CP/Education Assessment completed

3 CHALLENGES education sector School Feeding Program not targeting Ivorian students in host communities low attendance/child labor Some qualified Ivorian Teachers returned to IC Ongoing relocations in Maryland and Grand Gedeh population still fluid Accelerated (Vacation) Learning Program/Catch up classes for Ivorians need to be planned and HARMONIZED Lack of WASH facilities in some schools Road accessibility in intervention areas

4 WAY FORWARD education sector Follow up on MOE letter to WFP advocating for provision of school feeding to refugee students in HC Recruitment and training of non-qualified teachers Results of Joint Rapid Needs assessments to be used for programming MOE to come up with policy on Accelerated learning/ Catch up classes UNESCO to support partners who intend to provide formal & non formal secondary/tertiary education to refugees WASH assessment in all schools targeted Continued advocacy for improvement of roads Sensitization Day on The protective role of Education in Emergencies MOE/Edu-Cp sectors 8 June, Monrovia EIE training 14 June, in Grand Gedeh (Zwedru) Formal and Non-formal education at Border in Nimba NON FORMAL EDUCATION TASK FORCE – MAPPING/HARMONIZATION (work in progress)
