2. Adult education is currently believed to be one of the key factors influencing economic growth and social progress of a developing society. The base for the lifelong education strategy in the European Union constitutes the Resolution concerning lifelong learning adopted in June 2002 by the Council of Ministers.

7. By place of residence People living in urban areas are more likely to participate in adult education than people those living in rural areas.
