Origin In the late 1950’s two groups of young people began to emerge in Britain. The groups were, the richer young adults known for having the latest and most expensive suits, and the average class known for their short hair and shady clothing style. Disputes and arguments between the groups were common.

Beliefs Skinheads are known for their white supremacy, and racist beliefs. Other discrimination against Chinese, and middle eastern people. Surprisingly some members of the group were African American.

Appearance Hairstyles: ▫Short, but not bald Coats: ▫Overcoats, blazers Boots: ▫Army Boots, generic work boots Suspenders: ▫Various colors, X pattern signified neo-nazis

Appearance Pants: ▫Slacks, trousers Hats: ▫Flat hats, porkpie hats Badges: ▫Badges showed higher ranking officials or signified participation in bands Tattoo's: ▫Popular on faces or foreheads

Music Originally associated with soul, they eventually developed their own genre. Many artists played this new genre until the early 1970’s when English pop came in and took over.

SHARP SHARP stand for Skin Heads Against Racial Prejudice. Want to change the way skinheads are looked at from prejudice, to a group that respects other races. The organization started around 1980 and is still around today.
