AGWAPLAN Background for this presentation Barrier report II. -an evaluation of the integrated advice in the AGWAPLAN project (Evaluering af den integrerede rådgivning i AGWAPLAN, see www.agwaplan.dk) Method: - a sociological interview research. Interviewpersons: Representatives from: -Farmers -Agricultural advisers -Municipalities -Environment Center

AGWAPLAN Main results from the evaluation report 1.Most farmers are positive about working in a cooperative proces in the integrated advice concept in the AGWAPLAN project. 2.Farmers’ motivation to more environmental friendly behaviour can be based on both change in attitudes but also through strategic and production economic issues. 3.But there is a lack of integration inside the organisations involved in the integrated advice. 4.There is a lack of integration between local authorities and Environment Center.

5
AGWAPLAN 1: Results from the integrated advice Farmers changed attitude to cooperation about environmental issues. Farmers changed attitude to possible integration of initiatives in their production. The more precise formulation of the problem the better results in the cooperative proces. It provides understanding of the problem and between the parties involved. Farmers can integrate their contribution in their management strategy.
6
AGWAPLAN 2: Motivation for changing behaviour Integrated advice in AGWAPLAN: Farmers found their own economic or strategic motivation for changing behaviour through integrated advice.
7
AGWAPLAN 2: Economic and strategic motivation to cooperative approaches Short term: More nutrients stay in the fields. Medium term: Positive relations to local authorities and local society ensure agricultural production possibilities for the farm. Long term: Farmers want to give a cooperative image of an environmental friendly business to ensure future farming in Denmark.
8
AGWAPLAN 2: Farmers’ motivations for changing behaviour: In AGWAPLAN farmers changed behaviour on basis of production economic and strategic motivations. These motivations were supported by integrated advice.
9
AGWAPLAN 3: Internal integration in organisations Individuals have been comitted to AGWAPLAN as a project. Cooperation builds on personal relations in the project Relations between organisations is limited to relations between individual staff members Relations between organisations is very vulnerable if e.g. a staff member changes field of responsebility
