1 LC1 Core Science Project

 Components :-  -Electrons Move from the (-ve) to (+ve) side -Electric current moves from (+ve) to (-ve) side -Energy is given by Battery in the circuit 2 LC1 Core Science Project

- Series Circuits :- - * It is a circuit where the Current flow in One Path - Parallel Circuits :- - * It is a circuit in which there are several Current Paths - Reference :- Physics Text book Pg 618 & 623 3 LC1 Core Science Project

* Current ( I ):- Current is Equal in all of the Resistors. ( I t = I 1 = I 2 = I 3 ), and it is equal to the potential difference of the source divided by the resistance ( I = V source / R ). ( Physics Text Book Pg. 619 ) * Voltage ( V source ):- The total voltage on the circuit is equal to the sum of voltage on each of the resistors.(V t = V 1 + V 2 + V 3 ) (Physics Text Book Pg. 619 ) * Resistance ( R ):- The property of determining how much current will flow ( Physics Text book Pg. 595 ) * Equivalent Resistance ( R eq ):- It is the sum of the individual resistances of each of the resistors ( R eq = R 1 + R 2 + R 3 + … ) 5 LC1 Core Science Project

Christmas lights are connected in Series Circuit. Batteries in flashlights are connected in series to increase the voltage. (www.yahoo.com )www.yahoo.com 6 LC1 Core Science Project

Ex :- A Series Circuit Has 3 Resistors, R 1 = 3.5k Ω, R 2 = 4.7k Ω, R 3 = 5.1k Ω, The given Voltage of the Series is 20V, With Current of 2.2A on Each resistor. Find the Equivalent Resistance. R eq = R 1 + R 2 + R 3 R eq = 3.5k + 4.7k + 5.1k = 12.3k Ω Or R eq = 3500 + 4700 + 5100 = 12300 Ω 7 LC1 Core Science Project

* You can add as much power devices to series circuit as you want, which will increase the overall force of your output. * All of the components are connected through a wire which will make them easier to Control * They will have less chances of having a short circuit because of the high resistance. 8 LC1 Core Science Project

* If one of the components in a series circuit is off or is not working, Then all of the components in the circuit will not work. * The Lights in a series circuit will not give their full brightness as they can give out more brightness when not connected to a series circuit. 9 LC1 Core Science Project
