Microsoft Office 365 Phase I Enhanced Office 365 Services for Students with Federated Authentication: one account instead of two, password resets are easy, uniform @wsu.edu email address/login New Services for Everyone: Office 365 ProPlus (desktop/cloud office suite) and OneDrive for Business (1TB cloud storage): Phase I – Students Phase II – Faculty/Staff No costs to students/faculty/staff (costs covered by existing WSU Microsoft Enterprise License Agreement) Impacts: Greatest is to students - there will be complaints despite best attempts to communicate the login change, but after the one time change life will be much better! Staff/Faculty – Approximately 1600 faculty/staff have two accounts that must be unified per Microsoft cloud requirements.

ProofPoint Targeted Attack Protection (TAP) Background: Phishing has become an increasingly pervasive security problem, and WSU is attacked on a regular basis. Some percentage of the time, these attacks are successful and WSU accounts can become compromised (currently hundreds of compromised accounts per year). Benefits: TAP provides near real-time email protection. When a user clicks on a URL or attachment included in an email, the link is evaluated and then redirected to the original site unless the site is known to be malicious. Cloud-based “big-data” analytics are used not only for the real-time checking but historical perspective on who is being targeted.

Microsoft Lync Phase I aka “Skype for Business” Primary objectives for Phase I: Replace current end-of-life and end-of-support audio conferencing bridge (MeetingPlace) Provide faculty/staff with ubiquitous access to web conferencing technology across multiple platforms and devices (desktops, laptops, mobile phones, tablets, Windows, and Macs) Initial integration of existing WSU communications technology including AMS Video Conferencing and ITS Voice over IP (VoIP) Planning for the future including cloud offerings as well as integrations with other audio/video/web conferencing (Such as Skype) On-premise infrastructure being funded by ITS MeetingPlace replacement dollars Phase I licensing is covered by WSU Microsoft Enterprise Agreement
