Outcome 1: EDUCATION People having better chances in life, with better access to training and development to improve their life skills Outcome 2: COMMUNITY Stronger communities, with more active citizens, working together to tackle their problems Outcome 3: ENVIRONMENT Improved rural and urban environments, which communities are better able to access and enjoy Outcome 4: HEALTH Healthier and more active people and communities

4 Awards for All £300 - £10,000 New activity and repeat projects* 12 months to spend grant Meet one of our outcomes Simple application form Up to £10,000 in any 12 month period Decision within 4 months

5 You can apply if.. You have: at least 3 unrelated people on your governing body a UK bank account in the name of your organisation with at least two unrelated signatories Annual accounts or projections for 12 months You can: send BIG an application at least four months before your project is planned to start complete your project within one year of when BIG confirms your award

6 What can Awards for All pay for? equipment hire or purchase information technology equipment building and refurbishment work professional fees training updating equipment and premises for health and safety reasons volunteer expenses transport costs venue hire feasibility studies

9 Reaching Communities - summary Revenue £10,000 + average grant size - £300,000 1-5 years funding Will fund salaries Will fund continuation and new projects Two stage application process Up to £100,000 capital (land, buildings or refurbishment) Building Capabilities – up to £15,000 for the applicant organisation

10 Reaching Communities - Example Active Plus Communities (APC) in Cornwall awarded £465,544 The project aims to help communities unlock potential by using the skills and knowledge of injured military veterans working alongside older people; raising confidence and wellbeing, building friendships, social networks and community cohesion, involving older people in local service delivery and increasing the employment prospects of military veterans.

12 Fulfilling Lives Ageing Better- £78m Fulfilling Lives: Ageing Better is to support older people who are marginalised or most at risk of social isolation and loneliness so that they can lead more fulfilling lives. Age UK Bristol, 5 years grant of £5,848,662 Bristol Ageing Better (BAB) is a wide partnership of older people and organisations across Bristol working together to develop services and support for older people that address isolation and loneliness. BAB is committed to putting older people in “the driving seat” by significantly involving them in every aspect of the programme including governance, development, management and delivery.

13 Fulfilling Lives Ageing Better- £78m Torbay Community Development Trust £5,998,032 for a 6 year grant Torbay’s delivery model is all about a bottom up, developmental approach. They are delivering three strands of activity – Neighbourhoods – community builders and community connectors (300), timebanking, community magazine Raising aspirations and service re-design – guided conversations, GP social prescribing, specialist support Positive ageing – media campaign and festival

14 Centre For Ageing Better - £50m The Centre’s primary aim will be to support a good quality of life in older age and promote the benefits of an ageing society by bridging the gap between research, evidence and practice By the end of ten years, they intend that: More people will know how to plan and prepare for a better later life - and more will do so. More organisations will know what works to support individuals and society to enjoy better later lives – and more of them will act on this evidence. The broader conversation around an ageing society will have evolved - so that, as a country, England becomes more ready to celebrate longer later life and to see the benefits arising from greater numbers of older people.

15 UK Home-Share pilot Strongly encourage partnerships between the voluntary and community sector and the statutory sector. We are particularly interested in proposed projects that will: broaden the appeal of Homeshare as an affordable solution to reducing isolation and loneliness for older people develop the Homeshare model to support those most in need, for example, people with disabilities and carers identify and address barriers to accessing Homeshare schemes build relationships between organisations and/or sectors by working in partnership share learning about how to support the sustainability of the scheme
