Pipeline Pipleline is an early alert system designed to promote student success and retention by identifying students who are at risk and experiencing academic, personal, or judicial difficulties. Enables us to identify students who are at risk and begin intervention with students as soon as a problem is identified. Allows us to track all contacts and intervention efforts, and share information appropriately with the student and others campus partners working on the case.

Our Expectations of Faculty & Staff Before Submitting a Case Faculty and staff make the initial contact with students before submitting a Pipeline case. By showing concern for a student’s academic success and personal well- being, they are providing the first level of intervention.

Our Expectations of Faculty & Staff Before Submitting a Case Contact should be made in person, via Bergen e-mail, and/or by telephone. If the student does not respond, or you feel the student needs extra support, a Pipeline case should be submitted.

When should I use Pipeline? Academic Examples ◦Student has missed two or more consecutive classes and/or the number of absences is negatively impacting the student’s grade. ◦Student is falling behind in coursework. ◦Student does not participate and/or is unprepared for class. ◦Student has low grades and is at risk of failing the course. ◦Student is not understanding class materials – could be in need of Tutoring or OSS support.

When should I use Pipeline? Personal Examples ◦Student shows signs of emotional or physical distress. ◦Student discloses a financial hardship. ◦Student is involved in a cultural misunderstanding or concern.

When should I use Pipeline? Judicial Examples ◦Student has continuous disruptive classroom or campus behavior that cannot be resolved between the student and faculty or staff member. ◦Student commits academic misconduct such as plagiarism or cheating. ◦Student inappropriately uses or there is theft of Bergen property and/or technology. ◦Student makes verbal threats or threats of physical action or assault. * * In cases of immediate danger or threat of harm to self or others, call Public Safety (Dial 6) or call 911.

Access Faculty Information Menu Click “Faculty Information” in the WebAdvisor Menu

Find a Student Click on “Find a Student”

Find a Student Enter the student name or ID number Click

Contribute Retention Information

Type of Issue Click the Type of Issue Drop-Down Menu & Select the Appropriate Type of Issue

Summary Write a brief synopsis or summary of the issue

Detailed Notes Enter all information about that you have about the issue Include details that will help the case worker determine the proper plan of action

How did you contact the student? Check the type(s) of communication you have already had with the student

Reporting Additional Issues If you want to add another issue to this case for this student, check the box to the right If you do not have an additional issue to report, click

Case Contribution Form This form confirms that your contribution was successful and provides you with the case number and a list who this case will be assigned to.

Going Back to a Previously Submitted Case Click on Faculty Information

My Contribution to Cases View items that you have contributed to a student retention case.

My Contribution to Cases Click the “Summary” hyperlink to view specific information about the case. You will be taken to “View Case Item” form.

Add/Request Information To add or request more information about the case click “Add/Request Info” hyperlink. You will be directed to the “Retention Case Follow-up” form.

Retention Case Follow-up Enter the summary, detailed notes, and contact method. Click the button and this information will be added to the case.
