2.  Abraham Lincoln was born in a log cabin in Kentucky on Feb.12,1809.  He went to school less than a year.  He studied at night.  He even read whenever he was plowing his father’s field.  He earned money by splitting logs for fences.

He earned money by splitting logs for fences. When Abe was 7 his family moved to Indiana. Abe helped build a snug cabin. When Abe was only 9, his mother got sick and died. He was a great storyteller. He worked as a farmer and a carpenter. He worked on a river. He opened a store. A lawyer taught Abe. He held several government offices, too. In 1861 Abe became the 16 th president of the United States. Abraham Lincoln was president during the Civil War. When the War ended in 1865 an angry man shot Abe.
