1 4/22/ :10 PM Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Military Department Investigative Agencies (MDIA) Co-Locate at MCB Quantico This is a recent picture of the BRAC facility. Note Russell Road in the top left corner of the picture and Telegraph Road in front of the facility. The bypass from Russell Road to the BRAC facility is visible in the top left portion of the picture. The rectangle white structure is the logistics building. The main Military department Investigative Agencies (MDIA) building consists of two wings (four stories) and the center entrance way. The facility is 719,000 square feet. The building site is approximately 100 acres.

6 MCB Quantico Road Improvements
4/22/ :10 PM MCB Quantico Road Improvements The primary traffic impact associated with the MDIA BRAC action will be at the Base access points as 2767 commuters converge daily to access the BRAC site. Most traffic will access the BRAC site from Interstate I-95 at exit 148 onto Russell Road. To move that traffic off of I-95 to the BRAC site the following traffic mitigation work is being done as part of the BRAC construction: -The I-95 Ramps are having additional turn lanes added. Normally, all Interstate work would be done by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) However, the ramps at exit 148 are unique in that they are on MCB Quantico property. Under the terms of the land use agreement the Marine Corps can make improvements to those ramps with the concurrence of FHWA/VDOT that their engineering standards have been met. MCB Quantico has applied for and received approval to make the Ramp improvements. MCB Quantico has also submitted a Defense Access Roads (DAR) package for additional ramp extension should additional Base growth require furtherl ramp extensions to allow safe merge of traffic on the ramps and onto the main roadway. -Signals at the intersection of I-95 Ramps and Russell Road to synchronize traffic movement. -Widening of Russell Road from 2 to 4 lanes from I-95 to the BRAC site. -Construction of a short bypass from Russell Road into the BRAC site. -Improvement to the MCB Quantico west side gate to allow more lanes of traffic through the gate to prevent backups on Russell Road that would impede BRAC traffic.

7 MDIA Demographics Currently reside in commuting area (51%)
Commuting area defined as Virginia Remaining 49% Currently surveying employees Many are undecided and keeping options open Commute from Maryland/DC Relocate or leave position Migration is underway
