C HANGE OF BASE FORMULA The typical base for all logs is a base of 10. This is called a common log. If the base is anything other than 10 you have to do change of base formula before you can solve. Examples: 1.

N ATURAL L OGS A natural log a log with a base of “e”. “e” is an irrational number (like pi).
