Organelles that Store, Clean up, and Support
2
Organelles that store, clean up, and support Vacuoles, Vesicles, Lysosomes, and the Cytoskeleton Vacuoles are large saclike structures that store materials like water, salts, proteins, and carbohydrates Plants cells contain a large central vacuole that helps support heavy structures such as leaves Some single celled organisms such as paramecia have contractile vacuoles that help pump out excess water

Paramecium
4
As compared to vacuoles, vesicles are smaller structures which store and move materials between cell organelles
5
vesicle
6
Lysosomes are small organelles filled with enzymes that break down lipids, carbohydrates, and proteins into small molecules that the cell can use They also break down old organelles lysosome
7
The cytoskeleton is a network of fibers and tubes that help the cell maintain its shape and allows certain organelles to move as well as certain cells to move cytoskeleton
8
The cytoskeleton is a network of fibers and tubes that help the cell maintain its shape and allows certain organelles to move as well as certain cells to move Cytoskeleton consists of microtubules- hollow protein structures Cytoskeleton consists of microfilaments- threadlike structures made of proteins called actin
9
Microfilaments provide a flexible support for some cells and help other cells such as amoebas to move Microtubules help many cells maintain their shape, form centrioles which aid in cell reproduction, and form cilia and flagella which allow some single celled organisms to move centrioles
