3 What is NATMS?  The National Drug Treatment Monitoring System (NDTMS)  April 2001  Tier 3 and 4 (structured) treatment  The National Alcohol Treatment Monitoring System (NATMS)  April 2008  Subset of NDTMS  28 data items – reports on primary alcohol clients  DH commissioned  NTA managed  Enables national, regional and local level reporting on alcohol treatment

9 Alcohol Needs Assessment 2009/10  Currently under development – November release  First year of implementation – will be updated annually  Reports on 2009/10 ‘frozen’ data  Distributed through DAMS and via Regional Alcohol Managers  Provides the number and case mix of clients at each stage of the treatment journey (Entry, In Treatment, and Exit).  Reports on one full years worth of data and provides more detail than the quarterly performance reports  Intended to inform the JSNA process

15 Future Steps  Release of the needs assessment data (Nov)  The production of an outcomes measure for alcohol treatment  Filling data ‘black-holes’:  Tier 2 Brief Interventions – now reported on in NA  ‘Other structured treatment’ – why so many falling into this category?  The production of a summary sheet for purple reports (if this is felt to be of use)
