Grassy Lake is proud to announce that Kelley Lozicki, Wendy Rozar, Chris Garcia and Cindy Anthony were awarded the 2011-2012 mini-grant to integrate a class set of iPads into their classrooms for the 2011-2012 school year. These innovative teachers will facilitate a student-centered, cross- curricular, multiple grade level project focused around a central theme. Grassy Lake is housed on land that is designated as a protected wildlife area for Florida Skinks, and Florida Scrub Jays, giving us unique access to their ecosystems. They will use this as the initial focus that will hopefully branch out into hands-on research of other ecosystems within our local community, including the Florida Green Swamp and other wetlands, and potentially include coastal tidal pools, Trout Lake Nature Preserve, and Lake Louisa State Park. The iPads will be an important tool in their kit for this project. The end result of the project will contain multimedia presentations created and displayed on iPads. The iPads will be used to gather and record research data, create image-rich presentations and display the outcome to other students.
