Get Educated On Bullying! Bullying leads to low self-esteem and low academic achievement. Bullying can lead to larger problems not only with the victim, but also with the bully themselves. No one wants to be friends with a bully Bullying not only affects the direct parties involved, but also their peers around them. Children need to see that they do not want to be bullied so they should not be bullying others

Facts/Statistics on Bullying 9 out of 10 students are bullied in their elementary school 6 out of 10 admit that they have participated in the bullying themselves 20%-30% of school age children are involved in bullying (whether he/she is the victim or bully) Over 56% of students say they have witnessed bullying taking place 15% of students who miss school report it to being because they are in fear of being bullied at school. 4 th -8 th grade are the top years for bullying- 90% recorded they were victims of bullying Most bullying occurs inside of the school and the place where bullying is least likely to occur is off school property.

Warning Signs of Bullying Increased passivity or withdrawal Frequent crying Reoccurring complaints of physical symptoms such as stomach aches or headaches with no actual cause. Unexplained bruises Sudden drop in grades Not wanting to go to school Change in their social life- no one is calling or contacting them Child changes the way they talk- calling themselves a loser or calling a former friend a jerk.

4 R’s: If your child is a victim RECOGNIZE what’s going on. RELATE to the school. REPORT incidents. RECORD what happened and how it was handled.
