How Do I Back Up My Files? My Documents – Place all personal files wanted backed up into My Documents – Do not place on server – OIT will back up – Drag and Drop – Windows Explorer – Additional Back Up on Floppies

Where Do I Look? Windows Explorer C Drive (Hard Disk) Folders on C Drive Floppy Drive (A) – don’t need to back up if already on disk

What If My Floppy Will Not Store Certain Files? File too big for floppy (>1.44MB) Place in My Documents – OIT will back up

What About Special Programs? Must be college supported software Licensed programs Personal software not supported Make list of what you have Check for compatibility with Win 2000 Have original disks for additional software wanted installed

Compatibility! Not all programs work with Win2000 Research your programs Check program web site for additional information on compatibility Write down or print URL for driver web site Check peripherals for compatibility with Win2000 – have URL for driver info available

Hardware? Hardware received through grants or other college funds List hardware to be uninstalled.

Speeding Up the Set-Up Tape (not sticky note) User ID and Password for Email on bottom of keyboard. Have disks with product number available for programs not supported by OIT Have License information available Have list of hardware to be removed. Make note of special programs needed.

Speeding Up the Process Check Email ID and Password – George will reset if forgotten Be courteous to OIT personnel installing computer Patience Have lists and disks ready X Marks the spot – leave note as to where you want tower placed
