The Woodburn School District is committed to Parent and Community Outreach. The idea of creating partnerships with our parents, families and community is at the heart of two core values that we have held for a long time. "Family is the strongest influence on the growth and development of an individual" "A community thrives when its members recognize and value their interdependence."

3 Parent & Community Outreach According to the research, programs and practices of partnership make a difference in whether, how, and which families are involved in their school; subject-specific practices involve families in ways that directly assist students’ learning and success; teachers who use partnership practices are more likely to report that all parents can help their children; programs will be most useful to schools and families if they are customized, comprehensive and continually improved to meet important goals for students.

4 Parent & Community Outreach So, what do we mean by “partnership”? Joyce Epstein defines school-community partnerships as the connection between schools and community individuals and organizations that are forged to directly promote students’ social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. The main reason for creating partnerships is to help all students succeed in school (recognizing that each student is a child and each child comes with a family and community; this connection equates to building relationships).
