11 © Ricardo plc 2012 Guidebook update project: Key issues Task 1– Small-scale Combustion The suitability of the proposed approach: o Step 1. Review and assess existing guidebook chapter o Step 2. Typify and define the missing technology/fuel combinations o Step 3. Literature review and compilation of factors o Step 4. Assess activity data needs and Tier 3 Approach o Step 5. Update of guidebook chapter What key technologies/fuel combinations are currently omitted from the guidebook; and which of the existing definitions require further review? What additional reference sources should be included? What approaches to addressing activity data disaggregation are consultees aware of?
12
12 © Ricardo plc 2012 Guidebook update project: Key issues Task 2.1: PM (Condensable vs Filterable) Emission Factors Can consultees identify any additional data sources Which countries hold details of PM assumptions used in emissions inventories? Are there relevant national studies? Which countries might have data to support EFs for condensable PM? Task 2.2: Non-Road Mobile Machinery (NRMM) Can consultees identify any additional data sources Which countries compile detailed NRMM inventories? Which countries might be able to provide data to supports EFs for Tier 0 EFs?
13
13 © Ricardo plc 2012 Guidebook update project: Key issues Task 3.1: Restructuring and development of improved methods for agricultural sector Accuracy and completeness of the revised structure. Gaps in the current reporting of NH3 emissions and any relevant data Data and approaches to calculate emissions of NMVOC, NOx, PM. Comments on any proposed methodologies for NMVOC, NOx, PM Task 3.2: Ammonia emissions from fertiliser use Any data on NH3 emissions following N fertilizer application Approaches to calculating NH3 emissions following N fertilizer application Views on the findings and the usefulness of the multi-factorial analysis when available
14
14 © Ricardo plc 2012 Guidebook update project: Key issues Task 3.3: Ammonia emissions from standing crops Ammonia emissions from standing crops are determined by the concentration differences and resistance to transport o Much is known about atmospheric concentrations o Less is known about plant concentrations Any information on models/measurements to predict net emissions from crops. Task 3.4: Ammonia emissions from biogas Any data on emissions of NH3 from biogas facilities Comments on the proposed new inventory approach
15
15 © Ricardo plc 2012 Guidebook update project: Key issues Task 4.1: SOx / SO2 inventory estimates Is the described approach based on stakeholder engagement and literature review appropriate? Any specific cases where inventory teams have differentiated SOx and SO2 Opinion and data on the importance of reduced sulphur Any other stakeholders Task 4.2: Black carbon Is the list of data and information providers comprehensive? Information on the origin of the BC EFs in the Guidebook Are the suggested outputs the most appropriate way of collating new information for the Guidebook?
