Biostatistics COURSE NAME Bios 101 COURSE CODE 2 credit hours (1 Theory + 1 Practical ) CREDIT HOURS 2

This course provide Basic theoretical knowledge related to Biostatistics including descriptive and inferential statistics. Also introduce the practical component for data analysis using computer Softwares : SPSS and MS Excel sheets. 3

You should be able to: 1.Define the basic concepts and terminology of biostatistics, including : Various kind of variables Measurements and measurements’ scales. Descriptive and inferential statistics. 2.Define and distinguish between populations and samples. 3.Describe different sampling techniques. 4

You should be able to: 3.Create frequency distribution table. 4.Present data in form of graphically and numerical. 5.Calculate and interpret measures of central tendency, measures of location and measures of variation. 6.Define the concept of sampling error 7.Calculate the mean and standard deviation for the sampling distribution. 5

You should be able to: 8.Explain Normal Distribution and Empirical Rules of The Normal Distribution. 9.Calculate Normal Probabilities using the Standard Normal Table (Z Table). 10.Describe the Central Limit Theorem and its importance. 11.Learn, use, apply statistical software Spreadsheet and (SPSS). 6
