Perception Lab Directions: On each page click the “title” which is a link to a website and follow the prompts on each slide. Write and number all your responses on a separate sheet of paper and submit for credit. Use content in Ch.6 to help you w/ your answers.

1.Visit: Luminance and Contrast— “Adelson’s checker shadow” illusion. Read summary and click the visual. Written Response: Explain the perceptual constancy in effect and why it works? 2.Visit: Cognitive/Gestalt Effects— “Hidden Message” Read & do trial. Written Response: Explain how it demonstrates ground-figure effect? 3.Visit: Space 3D & Size Constancy– “Muller-Lyer Illusion” Attempt to bisect the line perfectly. Written Response: What’s the principle behind this illusion? 4. Select 3 buttons/sites of your choosing and explain the activity/illusion/principle involved. Test Your Knowledge Select any illusions/activities you want. Find and match 5 illusions/activities w/ a perception or sensation principle from Ch.5-6. 9. List and explain the 5 illusions and the corresponding perception principle it is an example of. HAVE FUN!!

Discuss one area/product in real life that would also incorporate Human Factors (not from video) (use pgs. 261-63 in text for help)
