Our goal is to provide meaningful, engaging experiences that will nurture the development of responsible, caring and self-motivated learners.

5 5 Young children learn through active, purposeful interactions with a wide variety of learning materials and activities. Young children are concrete, kinesthetic learners who require hands-on experiences that allow them to experiment and connect new learning to prior knowledge. How young children learn

6 Instruction 6 Lessons are aligned to the Common Core Standards and are differentiated to meet children's individual instructional level Children develop at their own pace with varying strengths, skill sets and interests Teachers observe and assess children both formally and informally on a regular basis Instruction is delivered in whole group, small group and individual settings

11 11 Curriculum Literacy Block includes: Daily Five Children develop the daily habits of reading, writing, and working independently. Shared Reading Children follow along with teacher and other students as they read Big Books, charts, and enlarged print books Guided Reading Children work in ability based small groups with teacher as they work on early reading strategies. Writing The teacher supports the child through the writing process at each child’s instructional level Math Block Counting and Cardinality, Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Number and Operations in Base Ten, Measurement and Data, Geometry Science The children work on three different FOSS units of scientific inquiry: Fabrics, Liquids, Balls and Ramps. Physical Education The children have 60 minutes of PE/week and 20 minutes of rigorous physical activity/recess 3 times per week. Music The children have 40 minutes of music and movement through the Lead Guitar program.

13 School Information Hours and drop off times- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 7:40-1:55 Wednesday 7:40-12:55 Parents may drop off students at 7:15 am Snack and food policy- all students may bring a healthy snack to eat during morning recess Volunteering- parent volunteers are encouraged at all grade levels. All volunteers must fill out a volunteer application. If you are not the child’s legal guardian you must have a fingerprint clearance in order to volunteer and drive on field trips Discipline/Restorative Practices 13

15 15 Registration Required Registration Documentation- –Student’s original birth certificate –Student’s Immunization Records –Proof of Address –Parent/Guardian picture ID Health Office- all students must have all immunization shots or they may not start school
